Description Description
Charming Ma'alaea Banyans 202 is a fully equipped condominium located in a serene resort with 180-degree ocean views. The bedroom boasts a queen-sized bed while the living room has a sofa sleeper, making it an ideal accommodation for up to four guests. Whether you are in the mood to whip up a quick snack or a full-course meal, the full kitchen has everything you need to bring out your culinary skills. The lanai offers sweeping views of the ocean and is the perfect spot to enjoy your meals. Cleanliness is paramount, and the in-unit washer and dryer ensure that you are always fresh and ready to go.

Cooling off from the tropical heat is a breeze with the ceiling fans and living room air conditioning, and guests can stay entertained with the flat-screen TV, complimentary cable, high-speed internet, and free Wi-Fi. The resort is a tempting option, with its tropical grounds, pool, spa, and BBQ/picnic area offering plenty of opportunities for relaxation. Take in the mesmerizing views of the sunrise, sunset, and moonlight over the bay, the neighboring islands, the Kihei coastline, or Mount Haleakala. During the winter months (November-April), watch as the majestic humpback whales return to these protected waters to birth their calves.

Exploring on foot is an excellent option for those who plan to spend a day, or more, at the resort. Ma'alaea Harbor, just a short walk away, has a bustling harbor offering exciting excursions, whale-watching tours, snorkeling trips, and sunset sails. The harbor is also home to various shops, restaurants, the Maui Aquarium, and a family-fun center with mini-golf and more. To the east lies Sugar Beach, a couple of miles of sandy serenity leading to North Kihei, where you can find some delicious eats and treats. Ma'alaea is located at the base of the isthmus that divides east and west Maui, providing easy access to various Maui attractions with low commute times (15 to 40 minutes) to Kihei, Wailea, Makena, Lahaina, Kaanapali, Kahului, Paia, and Makawao. Haleakala Summit and Hana are further, but well worth the drive. Whether you choose to stay local or venture forth, it's a win-win situation! With free parking, one vehicle per unit, parking is also not a problem.

good for reasonably priced pied a Terre
This rental was exactly what I expected it to be - it is not a luxury apartment and it is very basic. It was clean and functional and just what I wanted for a quick few days with my daughter. Cost is reflective of the place. If you are looking for a fancy or updated environment and plan to spend a lot of time inside this is not the place. If you are looking for a reasonably priced place to park your belongings and adventure it is perfect. It was clean and well located.

Windy Ma’alaea
Great central location, near the harbour and the Maui Ocean Center.

This unit had everything we needed. Host were very responsive and dealt with our concerns on the same day. Needed new frying pans. The additional beach items like 2 chairs and the cooler was very handy for our outings. Gas BBQ onsite as well.

Wind happens. The harbour is the 2nd windiest harbour in the US I am told. The lanai is blocks the wind so we were still able to enjoy the outside. It’s not always windy but if it is space is useable. First time in Hawaii that the trade winds did cool the room without A/C.

The elevator was under renovation at the time of our stay. Since this unit is on the 2nd floor, was not a huge issue. This is an older building so managing expectations, this is not a name brand hotel chain. It definitely met our expectations.

Quiet area, easy access to everything, amazing views
Loved watching the whales from the lanai. The condo grounds are lovely and well maintained. There's a small beach area where the turtles like to sunbathe. The condo itself was as advertised. The king size bed was comfortable. Very much appreciated the beach chairs and coolers - we used them every day. Easy walk to the Maui Ocean Center and shops/restaurants. Only 8 minute drive to the point to watch the sunset. We rented a kayak for a day and enjoyed being on the water. The air conditioning in the condo works well for the living area but even with fans, it doesn't reach the bedroom very well.

nice but could be much better
Lobby is only open from 7:30am to 9pm. You have to go through the lobby to get to the grills, pool and small beach. Ground floor units have access so unless you're on the ground floor don't expect access out back when lobby is closed. Pool and Hot Tub only open from 9am to 9pm. Pool water does not feel heated. Housekeeping must take anything left behind so don't expect any sugar, sale, pepper, coffee or filters, expect nothing will be there. Only one roll of paper towels in kitchen and 3 rolls of (cheap) toilet paper. Needs new Box Fan (only had high speed on all settings) and the Microwave is very very small, a dinner plate will not fit inside. With just a few small changes would be great place to stay. Lobby hours to back needs something done for sure.

Great view - room needs furnature upgrades.
We were 4 adults, looking forward to enjoy the room and the island, we arrived with our groceries ready to get some food but found the table only has 3 chairs. We also realized afterwards, the kitchen bar counter but has no chairs to eat at either, plus was extremely high. We had issues with the TV which was resolved but was a bit disappointing due to bad weather news we needed to know about, since there was flooding occurring and road closures. The furniture was well worn and really should be replaced. The worst was shower did not drip, but actually ran. It felt like water torture while trying to sleep at night, even with the door closed to the bathroom. The manager, did note the issue but due to the building plumbing, the entire place had to have water turned off to fix the problem. With the drought issues in Maui, I had thought that fixing the running water would have been a priority. We ended up leaving a day early since the room was so depressing. But the view was one of the best from the lanai, that is the only saving grace of this place. The manager, Rosemary did respond quickly to our issues so that helped somewhat.

Nice Condo with a Great View
The condo was in good shape and had a wonderful view. It was centrally located on Maui, so everything was fairly close. It was also away from the crowds, so you had plenty of privacy. The sea turtles would come ashore daily just outside the condo. There was also a nice beach with a short 5-minute walk. It was a very pleasant experience.

Perfect location / Perfectly clean
Everything was "nauka oi", as is Maui..., a perfect location. The only "negative" were neighbor guests with screaming kids after or around midnight :-(

Find another place
Really disappointed in this rental. Had to wash all the sheets and towels before use due to smell. Everything was old and falling apart. Wont recommend using the couch as a bed at all.

Accommodations to the guest FELL SHORT
Like many reviews left by previous customers; my review echos similar concerns. While I understand that every business will have both plus and negative reviews, it is what management does after listening to the voices of the customers. With regards to Maalaea Banyans, while it appears they responded with an acknowledge. That's where it stops. No progress or attempts to make changes or to better the establishment.

Understand that while many people may visit Maui yearly. Others may take 30 years to finally visit Maui, traveling from clear across the county. We spend $2500 in flight tickets with seat upgrades and luggage fees. Additional $800 for rental car. And then finally the $2017 for the week stay. Take $2017 x 4 weeks x 80 rooms. That's a lot of money even if some of the rooms have residences living there for the business not to spend a little to accommodate their guest for basic toiletries.

After being on the plane for 5 hours. We get to our room only to find out that: (1) we have to go buy bathroom soup and shampoo to clean ourselves. (2) no cooking oil to even cook an egg. (3) no salt and pepper. (3) only two rolls of toilet paper. The business knew in advance that there were two adults staying for a week. Do they think 2 rolls would be enough? They don't care. (4) the bed is hard and unsleepable. (5) no air condition. (6) laundry detergent.

We had to go out and buy everything. It is not the money that upsets me. It is the lack of empathy and care for their guest.

Everything that I've mentioned has been previously reviewed and nothing has been done. Then I saw the taped note from management that was on the refrigerator. It read in short, "...thank you for your stay. We understand that you may have some uneaten food. Please leave it in the fridge for the staff..." Everything made sense after that. I'm to leave the brand new rolls of toilet paper for the next guest. Leave dish soap, cooking oil, sa

Excellent!
The condo was so comfortable and cozy. But the views!! The views were breathtaking!
The management was very helpful and friendly whenever I had a question.
The bed was super comfy and the key box was easy to use.
The location was perfect too. Very centrally located to everything on the island.
I would absolutely stay with them again.
