Kuleana Resort 209

This vacation was perfect for in and out access to the pool and beach with a beautiful view. Bedroom is large and has everything you need to BBQ and cook. Everyone onsite is so nice, it’s quiet and gives you all the relaxation vibes!

As always a trip to Maui is always quite, refreshing, comfortable and relaxing.Unit 209 is a great unit, great location & clean close to the pool and the mighty Pacific all by looking out the patio door.

We had a great 16-night stay at Kuleana 209! Although the unit is slightly dated (kitchen and bathroom could use a refresh), this larger than normal Kuleana 1-bedroom is nicely appointed with great local art, everything needed for the kitchen, beach chairs and beach towels for beach adventures! Cristina from Destination Maui was great to work with and addressed our few questions promptly.

This rental had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation for our family of 4. Appreciated the beach chairs/sun umbrella and cooler for our road trips through maui and beach days (the umbrella was a little temperamental, it is missing a couple pins that hold the frame mechanism, but did the job!) The grounds and views are 10/10. Seeing the whales in the distance was a daily highlight. We enjoyed having coffee/breakfast/some lunch and dinners on the outside patio. Walking down to the shoreline for sunset was our favorite way to end the day. Kitchen was well equipped for what we needed. We enjoyed the heated pool very much. We also used the laundry facilities on property and were happy with them as well.

For a family of 4 we were supplied 4 bath towel/washcloth sets and 4 beach towels, personally would have liked to have 2 per person for a 8 night stay but we made time for laundry. The unit is a bit dated and some staining along the ceiling (perhaps from water leaks). The walls could use a good cleaning, some patching and fresh paint. The unit we shared the wall with is in the process of being renovated and men were working during the daytime hours. We left most days and were not bothered with them. The a/c in the bedroom works great if you shut the door and are only cooling the bedroom. Its not a sufficient unit to cool the entire place. As long as its cool enough to sleep I’m fine and don’t necessarily need a/c so this worked for us. Would stay at this resort again, possibly picking a more updated unit.

209 is a very spacious and well appointed one bedroom. The AV took a little getting used to but a cable for the music player and familiarizing with the TV channels brought that under control.
The bedroom is very spacious with double closet and dressers and a very comfortable king bed.
Everything you need is in the kitchen and the living area is comfortable and roomy with sliding patio door and screen on to the lanai.
A lovely ground floor space close to the pool with a view to the ocean and lovely manicured lawns and flowers in between.
Marvelous joint.

Kuleana Resort was a very nice experience for our family trip to Maui. Hokulani at the front desk was very helpful and sweet to our family and made great suggestions when we had questions. The property is nice and very private, with the added bonus of being on the ocean. Overall the property is well kept! Unit 209 is pretty much as described by other guests. It's clean and has room for a small family to be comfortable...except for that mattress on the pull out sofabed.

We were very happy with this property. It was a great location & fit our needs very well. The only down side was the cooler in the bedroom was not sufficient to cool the rest of the condo.

The view from the lanai is exactly as pictured. A few whale breaches and lots of spouts were enjoyed, too. The unit was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were very helpful when ever we needed anything. Parking was convenient and we liked having the laundry and pool near by. We hope to stay in this unit next time we go to Maui.

This was our 3rd stay at Kuleana. First time booking with Destination Maui Vacations (but won’t be the last). From booking to check out we had great communication.
This unit is a bit larger than the others we’ve stayed in. It has a great peekaboo view of the ocean where we watched whales every morning with coffee. You can walk right out to the pool easily. And we did often! We love the pool at Kuleana. Probably one of the best of all the places we’ve stayed in Maui.
The unit was clean although there were a fair amount of sugar ants in the kitchen upon arrival but we wiped everything down again and were very careful about food storage (learned that the hard way when we lived in FL). We hardly saw any after that. The kitchen is very dated and worn out. I would highly recommend a new tea kettle. The one there is pitted and crusty and looks like it’s better days have long passed. The pots and pans are not the best but are plentiful and usable. We cook a lot when we travel so we travel with our own knife set, bbq tools, and espresso maker. So I can’t speak to any of those items. The fridge and dishwasher may need replacing soon. Around the seal of the fridge and freezer felt very hot most of the time. And the dishwasher racks are falling apart. But they both worked.
The bed was comfy! That’s a big win! The bedroom though...peeling late 80s wallpaper border and decor. The whole unit could use a fresh coat of paint and a little color. We didn’t use the ac at all. The ceiling fans and open window cross breeze was perfect.
Overall if you don’t care about having a gourmet kitchen or updated decor then you will love this place. It serves its purpose. It’s large and has basically everything you would need. Although I wish there were more cleaning products available for the renters. Two weeks is a long time to not clean all the glass surfaces in the unit. At the least a bottle of winde

Kuleana is the place we come almost every Thaksgiving week year for several years now. We love this place! Beautiful tropical paradise right on the ocean full of turtles. There's no beach (I can speak only about fall-winter time), but when the tide is low you can walk to the small beach left from Kuleana. This unit (209) is a much bigger then other one bedroom units, which was very convenient for the family with two teenagers. However it's pretty outdated especially the kitchen (cabinets etc.). It worked for us though.

wonderful property but owner needs to make some updates! The microwave needed to be replaced, the smoke alarm was disfunctional and the dishwasher was in poor condition and quit entirely the last 2 days of our stay. We had small little sugar ants in the bathroom and kitchen during our stay. We kept them at bay with some non-toxic spray that we purchased but the areas need some serious spraying. That said, we have stayed in the unit previously and love the location and layout of the unit.

The staff was extremely friendly and the property was stunning! We were right next to the pool that stays open until 9 pm which was perfect for my family!
